Really happy with the fence Tim built for us. He was easy to deal with, turned up when he said he would, and put a lot of care into getting everything right. The finished fence looks great and has made a huge difference to the property. Would definitely use Tim again and have no hesitation recommending him.
Landscaping Whangaparaoa and the Hibiscus Coast
Surfacing and planting taken on as the finishing stage of a build, so a new deck or wall does not end up sitting in a paddock of mud.
Landscaping Whangaparaoa sections, taken on alongside a build
The Landscape Company spent years on full design and planting contracts, including exhibiting at the Ellerslie International Flower Show. Tim still draws on that experience, but the business now runs on structural work.
In practice the landscaping stage means paving up to a new deck, turfing ground a digger has churned up, sorting the drainage that caused the problem in the first place, and planting the edges so it does not look raw.
- Paving, cobbles and concrete patios laid to fall, not by eye
- ReadyLawn instant turf over a prepared and levelled base
- Subsoil drainage and soakage where water sits on the section
Paving, ReadyLawn turf and drainage
These are usually priced as part of a wider build. Standalone work is possible when the timing suits, and it is worth asking.
Paving & patios
Concrete, paver and cobble surfaces bedded on a compacted base and set to fall away from the house.
Turf & ground prep
Site clearing, levelling, topsoil and instant turf, so a finished build has a usable lawn straight away.
Drainage & planting
Subsoil drainage, soakage pits, mulching and planting to hold banks and settle new structures in.
The pieces that make a section usable
Surfacing and planting are the bulk of it, but the built extras are what get used daily. Both of these were framed and clad as part of the same job rather than bought in as a kitset.
Twenty years of section work behind the trade
The design and show garden years shaped how Tim reads a section: where the water goes, which corner gets the afternoon sun, and which part of a plan will never actually get used.
That thinking still sits behind every price, even though the work itself is now firmly on the building side.
- Ellerslie International Flower Show exhibitor
- Planting chosen for coastal wind and the light a bed actually gets
- Levels checked against the house, not guessed
Landscaping questions
Mostly about sequence: what gets done when, and what can wait until the budget recovers.
Can the landscaping wait until later?
Yes, and often it should. Getting the structure and drainage right first means the surfacing goes down once. Turf and planting can follow months later without anything being pulled up.
Do you do maintenance?
No. Ongoing garden maintenance is not part of the business any more, and you will get better value from a local gardener than from a builder's hourly rate.
Why is my lawn always wet?
Usually compacted subsoil, a fall running the wrong way, or a downpipe discharging where it should not. All three are fixable, and none of them are fixed by more topsoil.
Can you plant as well as build?
Yes, as the closing stage of a build. Species get chosen for coastal wind and the actual light on the bed rather than what looked good at the garden centre.
Section finishing across the Hibiscus Coast, Warkworth and the North Shore
Paving, turf, drainage and planting go in wherever the structural work is, which means Whangaparaoa and the wider Hibiscus Coast, Silverdale and Orewa, Warkworth and Matakana, and across the North Shore. On the flatter North Shore sections drainage tends to be the first job rather than the last.

Working with Tim was awesome!!! he was so full of knowledge, always informed us of his plans for our gardens, kind and very respectful. He is our "Grass Guru", we never imagined our lawns could be as luscious as they've grown 10/10 :thumbsup_tone3:
Tim replaced our small grass area with a ready lawn after the existing area had been dug up due to drainage works and dried out. We are very happy with the result and now have a thick (and visually pleasing) lawn.
Tim from The Landscape Company responded to a job I posted on No Cowboys. A small job with a tight timeframe at a time of year (leading up to Christmas) when it can be difficult to get things done. Tim was committed to getting the job done on time, working in the rain one day and even delayed his holiday by a day to complete the job. We were very grateful as it enabled us to give a new puppy a safe area. Tim always responded to my queries promptly, gave a timely quote, asked questions to understand our expectations of the finished job and communicated clearly on when he would be on site to do the work. When some of the timber was unexpectedly unavailable, he told us why and the cause of the delay. The final fences and gates are brilliant. Tim kept a very tidy worksite, ensured no mud was transferred to the concrete driveway, accommodated changes that arose due to a change of mind on our part, and was very easy and pleasant to deal with. I have no hesitation in recommending Tim from The Landscape Company.
Tim was recommended by a friend and I couldn’t be more pleased. He single-handedly transformed my garden. An absolute pleasure to work with, first rate communication, and a real down to earth knowledge of landscaping, and a real problem solver when my garden threw up challenges.
We are absolutely thrilled with the exceptional service provided by Tim at The Landscape Company. From the initial consultation to the final walk-through, his professionalism, expertise, and attention to detail were truly impressive.
Tim was an absolute pleasure to work with, always responsive, and went above and beyond to ensure our complete satisfaction. His dedication to his craft is evident in every aspect of his work. We highly recommend Tim and The Landscape Company to anyone seeking top-notch landscaping services. Tims exceptional work has earned him a well-deserved 5 stars from us! Thank you for all the amazing work you have done for us and will continue to do for us hopefully in the future.
